Ianmcgarry.com was created whilst Ian was still well enough to be reminded of his past and take pleasure in the recollections of his family and friends, as well as to preserve his unique life story for his children and grandchildren.
Ian died on 16th July 2023 so this website has become a tribute to a man of exceptional talents and the kindest most selfless of natures.
Personal contributions are what this record is all about – which is where you come in….
Please submit directly to each page of the site anything you’d like to say about Ian. Your recollections, photos, videos and anecdotes of times shared with Ian are valued by everyone who glances through these pages.
Please take the time to visit the Service Of Farewell video, and stick with it to the end. Thanks to those who contributed their time, talents and love on the day (a list is in the video credits); to those were able to be there and to those who will watch it for the first time here.
If you encounter difficulties submitting a post please contact help@thetechsolver.co.uk which will reach Matt Billings the webmaster.
Sport, social family and friends related memories are at least as welcome as career ones from music, tv and skiing. Please don’t hesitate to submit humour!
Ian achieved so much that I don’t know where to start and there are so many concurrent parallel strands, so I’m simply going to briefly list some major points under each of the strands and encourage you his friends, colleagues and family to flesh out the details.
So .. we would love to gather together everyone’s recollections to reiterate just what an incredible person he was. So many of his colleagues have told us, his family, that he was the consummate professional, humble, helpful and down to earth despite his extraordinary accomplishments.
We’d be honoured if you would contribute your own memories.
Thank you.
